The German travel agency association, RTK, in the presence of the vice president of the council and other authorities, awarded its honorary prize to the founder and president of Loro Parque.
Loro Parque’s president, Wolfgang Kiessling, was honored with the honorary award from RTK (Raiffeisen Tours Kooperation), Europe’s largest network of travel agencies, in a ceremony held at the emblematic Loro Show of the Tenerife park. The emotional event was attended not only by the president and the park’s executive team but also by the Vice President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Lope Afonso, the Tenerife Tourism Minister Dimple Melwani, the Vice President of the Canary Islands Government Gustavo Mato, and Natalia Afonso, Deputy Mayor of Puerto de la Cruz.
The award was presented by RTK’s Director of Strategy and International Relations, Thomas Bösl, who thanked Wolfgang Kiessling for his continuous and solid collaboration with the tourism industry over the years. This recognition holds special significance, as noted by the Vice President of the Cabildo in his speech:
“This is a very special award because it comes from the customers we serve. It is a recognition of Wolfgang Kiessling’s way of doing things, of Loro Parque. It is his signature. It is what has made them the ‘must-see’ of the Canary Islands.”
Wolfgang Kiessling expressed special gratitude for this recognition, as it represents support from tourism partners and highlights the importance of the Loro Parque Group in promoting the Canary Islands as a sustainable and high-quality destination.
“Now that we are being attacked by activists who have turned this activity into their business, the support of our collaborators in the tourism market is very important. We continue to grow, protect our Animal Embassy, and provide jobs to more than 1,000 people in the Canary Islands, where we will keep investing.”
In this regard, the President of the Loro Parque Group announced the upcoming launch of a new installation featuring coral worlds and immersive experiences. According to his own words:
“It will be impressive and, like the penguinarium and Orca Ocean, once again unique in the world. A completely new experience that will blend virtual reality with the wonderful world of coral.”
This is not the first time that prestigious companies in the tourism sector have highlighted the importance of Loro Parque as a benchmark in the industry. In 2006, Loro Parque received the TUI Germany International Environmental Award, and in 2011, the Blue Award was also given to Siam Park, recognizing their commitment and care in the environmental field.
